Ya know that fort I've been wanting to build since like before October? Well, it's finally almost done.

I like SO built it myself, lol. You should come over and play in it with me. It's constructed out of $100 worth of discounted wood plus like a bunch of stuff I found out behind the barn lol. It's really safe... trust me.

It's not done yet though... I still need to put a roof on it, as well as a few more pieces of railing. Then eventually I may paint it, but my budget is dried up, so that may have to wait a bit yet...

If you look at the slanted red thing, it's actually railing on it's side/angled. It was Cyndi's idea to use as a ladder. I really liked the notion of it, and the slant gives something easy to climb, and reduces the risk of outright falling...

A few weeks ago I was at hobby Lobby and they had their wood crafts on sale so I grabbed a few bird houses so that I could paint them and give them away for Christmas. I didn't happen to get to them before then though so they sat around here till yesterday...

Lakota & I spent several hours with some markers, some colored wooden pieces, and a little bit of glue to make the two houses you see above. They are not completely finished though, as both need a clear coat of paint so that the colors will not bleed. I'll eventually get to that before spring ;)

We picked up Lakota Friday evening and kept her all weekend long. We didn't do all that much Friday as it was getting late, but we did talk about what we'd be doing the rest of the time. Rather then bore you with what was said, I'll just go on and say what was done...

Saturday we made a doll together. Lakota did a fantastic job sewing things together, and while I did help, she did a lot of it making the doll we made, the doll she made. We named the little thing Lisa Ashley P. and this is how she looks:

Later Saturday we headed out to Cleavland for some crablegs and then to the Hobby Lobby to get some more crafting supplies. I'll get into that in another post... When we got home Lakota made a small quilt for Lisa...

Schools out, in fact, it's been out for a bit. But yesterday was the first I've had a chance to let Lakota stay over. We played a few games last night, and got into the craft box a bit. We made game pieces and a multi-colored snowman.

I've worked my ass off today & am going to sleep.

Tomorrow I promise I'll be able to sit down for more then an hour (hell, more then a half hour) without needing to get back up and do something.

The chicken coop is built! (I'll get pics up later) And the chicks are happily living in it now.

I kinda skipped an update due to the various other things that came up through the week...like the furnace & the extra time with Perrin...

Last weekend was raining & I was recovering from a cold so Lakota's visit was done mostly inside...one saturnday morning the girls and I headed over to the Hobby Lobby in Cleavland so Cyndi could get some more Art Supplies. While she was looking Lakota & I wandered around looking for some nifty things...

We got "create-a-mugs" and her's has some nice birds drawn on it now. She took it home & I reckon she's using it...mine has oozing slime falling over the side with the words "CHRIS GERMS ARE HERE".

And then got some modeling clay that we fooled around with for most of her visit. We made her a special stone (SEE HERE) and a deserted isle with a little camper (HERE and HERE)

We also got a small treasure chest, some fake roses, and...and...and I swear something else which is escaping me at the moment...

All in all, we spent $11 and will have several weekends worth of fun from it...so I think we did pretty good.

Last night Cyndi & I headed over to Lowes to buy some wood. We spent a grand total of about $55 though not all on wood...

I spent the afternoon (and I mean from like noon to 5:30, so the entire afternoon) sawing on most of the boards by hand...because it seems that for the life of me I can not use a power tool to cut a straight line.

This is the result...

Two groups [a set for Perrin & a set for Devin) of over 60 pieces... so that's like 60 pieces for right around $20. I'm pretty sure that's a good deal, as blocks from the store were like $20 for about 20 blocks... *shrug* besides, I got to build these by hand, so they'll mean more.

Tomorrow comes the glorious task of sanding them *sigh* but hey... I'm a grand grandfather ;)

When working with Plaster Of Paris only make enough to last 20 minutes, then clean EVERYTHING.

When working with Plaster of Paris it sets at 25 minutes and no amount of water can stop it!

That said, I have 6 pieces of nice looking chalk, and 6 pieces of chunky chalk.

Good thing it's only chalk ;)

The kids will love it regardless YAY It's plain white chalk, but inside of each is bits & pieces of colored chalk that I've been hording from older chalk sets. So each piece is a rainbow ;)

As my budget is limited, it's one of the things the kids will be getting from me for X-mas...so go me *smirk* which they will like...I mean, they just moved into a new house & the basement is exposed to the outside (as it's built on a hill) so the kids can color on the walls...and every child wants to do that!

I made a wagon from a wheelchair and some junk!

* The four sides are from the lining of an old pet cage we had.
* it's wheels of course are from the wheel chair
* It's other boards are leftovers from various other projects
* the handle is wiring from the old Satellite I tore down...

I don't have a lot of Cash...so I made things for my most beloved for the holiday season. I did get her a few things from the store, and she did like them...but these blood sweat & tears went into their making...and that means more (to both her & myself).

I'm really hoping that she will share them as well...but till then here they are.

That blasted skunk was up on the patio last night again...and by the time I got a brick in hand he waddled off into the cathouse...so I blocked him inside of it again. This time though I did a better job at it as he is still in there! I have dropped in a few Rat Pellets for him to munch on while he waits so maybe with luck I'll have a skunk pelt by Christmas ;)

The batteries for the cam are dead...or I'd have given you all a few pics of a horrified & trapped stinky little monster *giggles*

At any rate though...this is the end of at least one of the confounded creatures.

I'vew finished project number 5 today...all of them gifts for Cyndi & all of them made from scrap wood. They all pretty much look like crap, but I know she will like them anyway *smirk* If I did not have this slight nerve disorder & if all the boards were straight (rather then warped) I think they all would have turned out better...but no worries, they will all do what they were meant to do...and they will do it well! More importantly though, they were made with love (and POWER TOOLS!)

I'll get pics of them after X-mas.

I'm feeling crafty again, and have recently made a Suet Feeder for the birds in the yard...but as I didn't know how to make suet (and buying it is a bit costly) I hit google for some cheaper alternative methods...

While in google I found some really nifty things about how to do other stuff for the birds, so as I collect information, or actually get around to making something...I'll be posting it in here.

Here are a few recipes I've found to feed the birds...
