Oct. 22nd, 2007 @ 11:14 am A trip to bear country
Current Location: Cades Cove
Inner Rhythem: The Skeeters & the Bedbugs song!
I had a great birthday Friday followed by a rather lazy Saturday, where one of the lazy things we did was head out for a bit of shopping. My mother and Cyndi were in the front of the van, and I was in the back. I was, for the better part, ignoring the conversation that was taking place till I heard those dread words…

Mom: I was thinking that today was nice, maybe we should have headed out to Cade’s Cove.
Cyndi: NO WAY! ~ I was thinking that exact thing!
Me: OH GOD NO… not again!

The conversation continued, and it was certain there could be no getting out of the trip, for tomorrow (which would be Sunday). I offered for them to take Amanda, so I could watch Perrin. They thought that was a wonderful idea, so they called Amanda to see if her AND Perrin could go. She could not because she is not into that whole two hour road trip to sit in the car for two hours to ride back for two hours thing. I offered to babysit for Amanda, but they said she didn’t need a sitter. So I offered for them to take Shannon, while I watched Lakota and Devin, but again, that was a no go because they called, and Devin could not make it, and Lakota and Shannon wanted to go. This left me excuseless, and along for the ride.

Oh well… I decided to make the best of it.

Cyndi & Shannon rode in the front, Mom & Perrin rode in the middle, and Lakota and I hung out in the back (near the snacks, but don’t tell anyone). We played a game to see who could find a certain car or a certain house (like a house with a green roof, or a bank, or a red mustang) so that pretty much passed all the time on the way there. It was a pretty good game, and we ended up tying as we pulled into the Cove, so we left at that, with two winners.

When we pulled into the cove, we pulled over, and I flopped the two back seats down so that Lakota & I could ride with the back up. From there on out I had the very most bestest of times! Even though we did not really see all that many Animals…in fact, we only saw a half dozen deer on two trips around the place. What made it fun was the “quality family time” that we all had.

Lakota's school has random things for the family. Today was Donuts with Dad...while I'm not her father, I am a father figure in her life as I try to be the very bestest of grand fathers to her. I went to the thing and got a donut, some juice, and had a fantastic time.

We talked about all sorts of things, and I got to meet a few of her friends. All in all I enjoyed it, and I know that she did as well. With luck, she will be re-posting the image in her journal as well as a few more details.

I love my grandkids!

Life can be grand...though, sometimes when it's going good, it's too busy to take a moment & breath. Such is the life I've led over the last few weeks. I got OccultCorpus up and running and it's doing pretty good. We are averaging around 5 members a day still (well, 4.532 or something) but I'm not really complaining. I'd like more, but as they trickle in, it warms my heart. Aethermanas is working on a few expansion projects, which I'll get to implement in a week or so, and I've got a few side projects not looked into yet... It'll be more then just an occult forum.

My folks are down from Michigan, and while we've been grand hosts, I'm not really sure we're doing enough...though, I'm not overly bothered by it, as all they ever do at home is sit around playing digital Yatzee. My mom is great with Perrin and they've been having a blast. She's gotten him to count to 6 which is really cute, especially since he can't count yet *boggle*

They are both talking about moving down here which I think would do both of them good...though, heh...it may drive me crazy till they can find other people to hang out with. I don't think that'll be to hard, as they are already networking...they headed out to Crossville today to a nudist group...yeah, they are freaky like that ;)

We went to Cherokee last weekend, and while the trip was a bust for the most part, I did get a chance to ride black betty...proving once and for all that I AM A COWBOY!

With Devin's limited vocabulary our conversations can be quite limited at times, though I rarely let that stop us from holding indepth discussions dealing with Life, the Universe, and Everything. I love the kid to pieces even though he is not blood...

Click here for more, including images and a poem )

We had Shannon over for a little while and while her and Cyndi talked about only the gods know what I hung out with one of the very bestest kids ever! I truely enjoy it when I get time to play with the kid...and while he can agrivate me at times for the better majority of the time we simply have fun.

In the top image we were watching the fish feed which he really thought was cool, and in the lower image we are cutting down a tree with some wire cutters (the little red one was his, and the actual "tree cutter" next to me was 'mine').

I always hate to see him go...so I think next week I'll need to make sure that Shannon (or Tim) drops him off for the day some time next week.

Inner Rhythem: Family Fued
As many of you know Cyndi & I went on a road trip across 5 states (Tennessee to Michigan) so that she could meet my family & friends. We stopped in Shelbyville Indiana on the way up for the night at a Motel8. It was a NON-smoking room so in the morning I had to head out to smoke a morning cigarette.... While out I saw a garage sale across the street where I bought a 6-foot stuffed Iguana which we have named Clyde (stay tuned to my SIG for more information on him and what we'll be doing with him).

We took the F drive exit and stayed at Tri-lakes Campground (ASCII directions) Where my Mom has a seasonal campsite. Her site is on a pretty little pond and on it's other side there is a wonderful pair Willow Trees that Cyndi just thought were beautiful. We got there on Saturday but did not stick around too long because we wanted to make it out to the Craft Show at Cornwell's Turkey Farm (where they make the BESTEST Chocolate Pie & have REALLY good sammiches). After that took a ride on my mom's Golf cart around the place so I could show Cyndi the three lakes (Pine, Fish, & Long).

Sunday morning we went to my Ex Wife's house so that Cyndi could meet her...it went better then you would have thought...but that's because Laura & myself are very good friends now and it's more of a friend thing then an EX thing. Later we headed over to my brother's house (which was my old house) for a pot luck where Cyndi could meet the rest of my friends. For some reason though I did not get ANY pics on this day *sigh* oh well...at least I still have the (fading) memories.

Monday Cyndi & I had a picnic at the Cement Pond. The pine's that surrounded it were just beautiful! We then drove around on the Golf Cart and made a few stops. The most important ones are as follows:
Later on Monday we swung by my old job to say HiYa to a few of the guys out there that I was rather close to for three years and then after that we headed over to my good friend Bryan's house. "B" and I don't like too many people, but we are rather close he did however get along GREAT with the woman I love. After that we headed back to the campground.

Tuesday morning we headed out to the Homespun to have breakfast with Laura (my Ex wife & one of my best friends) and her kid (no, it's NOT mine). Cyndi really liked her, but I must admit she liked the kid more I went out with laura & Cyndi headed out with my mom. Laura & I went to a jewelers to get Cyndi a ring (an LJ Link)...Cyndi & my Mom went to a few tourists traps for a fun morning of shopping. We met back up and got a few nice tourist shots...Me & Froot Loops and then Cyndi & Froot Loops. Both were taken at Kellogg's Cereal City USA...but we did not go in the place...it was not worth the addmission.

After that my Mom drove us to Holland to meet my grandmother & a few other family members. I showed my Grandmother & my Aunt Linda a few pics, then Cyndi showed them the rest of them...Later we headed out to OBI (Ottawa Beach Inn) for some local food. After some good food we headed to Holland State Park (which is just down the street from the OBI) and Cyndi & I walked out on the pier. A couple asked me to take their picture with "big red" behind them so once I was done I had them return the favor. We left there and headed to my cousin Andy's house to meet his Family. The following morning we talked and laughed with my Grand Mother...and I'm sure gunna miss her *sigh* We then went shopping and headed back to Battle creek. We swung by an Occult Shop (CHOICES UNLIMITED CENTER INC) and spent WAY too much money *snicker* I'll be posting some pics of the stones and other things we got there later (and likely in another thread). That night I gave Cyndi the ring...

Thursday we were planning on heading back home but decided to stick around fer one more day *yay*. We had Lunch with Chad and my mother at Sal's Scoop Shop...it was at this point where I actually began to wonder about Cyndi & her feelings for my brother. *smirk* Then headed back to Choices to spend more money, had dinner with my mom, then headed back to the campground to relax.

Firday...the last day and likely the longest. We took around trip around the grounds on the golf cart, packed up, then headed over to Chad's to pick up Squirrel (my grey cat) and to take him & his girlfriend out on a "thank you" lunch. They are good people and I'll miss them as well though I'm pretty sure Chad is oblivious of Cyndi's true feelings.

The ride home was Fun! We drove down to Dry Ridge Ky and stayed at the worlds worst Motel8...they served rotten apple juice and HOT soda from their vending machines...but we got them back by having Squirrel leave presents under one of the beds Once we got out of there we stopped in Richmond (ky) to stretch our legs and noticed that there was a Black Foot Pow wow so we stopped there for a bit. Eventually we made it home safely...

I did a few things yesterday but I posted them all in the OF so it's likely overkill here...but here is the rundown for those that don't read OT-G too closely.

I found proof that people in the south are not always the brightest Christmas lights.

I went to my grandkids birthday party (he's two).

I found a rather disgusting billboard... It's likely best to start from the BEGINNING.

Today, I wrote a poem...

Butterfly kisses (Today, just now)
Flitter and flutter to flowers in flight
Fly all the day and sleep through the night
Pitter and patter with wings all a-buzz
Drinking the nectar and pollen like fuzz

Now butterfly, butterfly where do you be?
Fly through my yard, land upon me!
And butterfly, butterfly where did you go?
Blow me a kiss so others will know!

Licking and laughing from fermented fruit
Now fly up in circles now ain't that a beaut
Singing and swaying from blooms in the breeze
From garden to weed and wherever you please

But butterfly, butterfly where are you now?
Come back for more it don't matter how!
And butterfly, butterfly prettiest sight
Gimme your kisses, yeah that's right!

Each butterfly is a link! ~ All images were taken by me in my yard...
