The fine folks of LJ thought it prudent to mention that you are not getting your notification emails in the strangest of places...  [info]lj_releases

In case you don't bother reading that group here it is.

A Note About Email Notifications

We've recently seen an uptick in email providers blocking mail from LiveJournal as spam, starting about a week and a half ago. (This includes Hotmail, Cox, and Juno, and a couple others.) When this happens, we try to contact the providers to request that we be unblocked; unfortunately, this is something entirely out of our control -- we can't force them to unblock us -- but we have verified that we are sending out the notifications properly, and we've verified that we're getting errors back from these providers.

I know this kind of sucks, and I'm very sorry for the problems caused by this, but I'm afraid it's not something we can directly control, so we can't fix it as readily. If you aren't receiving notifications, you should talk to your provider to see what's going on; failing that, you might want to change your email address instead.



I reckon ya oughta just email your email people and tell them it's not spam if they are saying it is making you not get it. Get it?

it seems that 9 out of 10 times I get an AOL ad here on LJ. Why would an ISP push so hard to offer something that the viewer already has?

It's not like they are offering it for less... in fact, last I checked they costed more. *boggle* Maybe to pay for the adverts?

Not that I'm really complaining this time... I mean, *I* am the one that signed up for the spam.

[EDIT: either way though, I'm rather unwilling to click on any link I don't know the destination of based on what's shown in the status bar. As flash shows nothing, I'll never click]

Speaking of spam. Gotten gas at Walmart recently? The pumps closest to the teller have huge blue boxes on them. When the gas starts to flow this lady starts to talk from the box trying to get you to click buttons and to pay extra money for this or that. Oh well... I guess, if I can save 3 cents on a gallon of gas listening to some chick talk ain't so bad (especially since there actually is a silence button ~ look for it!)

Life could be worse.

I'm a member of several LJ groups that are in need of additional members...lurkers welcome!

[info]craftastrophe Is a group for the Haphazard Handyman. It currently has three members, with me ([info]qryztufre) being it's main contributor. Within it you'll find some pretty horrible craft projects...though, many are both quaint & rustic. This is the more manly version of craft_mishaps (so ladies check them both out). Both are in need of active members!

[info]spellkraft arts and crafts with an occult twist. There are several other LJ groups like this one, but currently there is a standing NO SPAM policy, so unlike the other groups, this is not full of EBAY entries.

[info]bird_houses see the [bird] house [info]qryztufre built ;)

[info]project_a_day seems to be lacking people with active projects. If you do 'stuff' on a daily basis and don't mind sharing, this is the community for you!

Please feel free to share these with your flists if you feel some of your friends may have an interest in them (even if you don't). While I really dislike SPAM, word of mouth is really the only way to promote these things...

I must be getting old...at some point I made a MySpace account, but I do not recall doing so.

*shrug*

I headed over to my Spam Email address (alien_eggman at Yahoo) and saw the paperwork *shrug* so I headed over to check out the possibilities and I really did not like what I saw.

SPAM, SPAM, and more SPAM...they also had several options that LJ does not have, so I guess if you can get passed all the contorted pages filled with more options then should ever be availible then maybe you'd like it there *shrug* I however had no real desire to stay.

Then again, if LJ keeps up with their changes we'll have enough options here to feed a small family. Of course, all those changes are likely already in, but lost due to the poor skills of the staff here at updating the userbase (and menus).

Oh well...

I can now view my LJ (Plus account) without needing to scroll DOWN and RIGHT because they now offer a handy horizonal ad system which places it above the top entry, rather then the [right] side.

This makes me happy!

However, the ad in the "edit entry" is still causing me to scroll...but that's less annoying, as I don't use it as much as my friends page.

I'm restricting access to my LJ...

I'm not going completely "friends only" but many (and by many I mean most) of my entries will be limted to friends...and some (likely many) will have custom locks on them...so chances are you'll be seeing me post less and less here.

I've also restricted comments to "registered members" and may be limiting who/when comments can be made beyond that on an entry by entry basis. I am now also logging IP's (but don't worry, if you are an OF member, I already know yours).

This is because LJ condons abuse by brushing off complaints with responces like "thats why we give you restrictions that limit who can post"...I guess I can't really complain about this logic, but it sure is nice to know that the fine staff that hosts my journal is only concerned with breaking things that are not broke rather then fixing actual issues.

So, all of you lurkers (and yes, there are a few) you'll need to make an account if you'd like to see entries on my personal life.

Currently I generally just post random crap in this thing, most of it funny, the rest of it poetry. I rarely post actual updates unless it's about the skunk (which by the way, I just bought a new strap for my sling).

Well, I've been thinking about actually journalizing...not every little thing, but at least 2 or three times a week I plan on giving actual updates. Do you guys actually care to read these things?

I also want to post up more of my dreams...which was my actual intent of starting a Live Journal...I just never really got into it. Ya'll wanna give me your insights into my mind?

I've also recently joined the ADF with Cyndi, and with that I need to keep a log of certain aspects of my progression.

I have a few options...either putting all three in here, one or two in here, or putting them all into a new account. Do you guys want to read about these extra things? Hehe...gods forbid someone actually JOURNAL in their LJ (which is almost unheard of).

I plan on putting it in LJ, now it's just a matter of how my flist feels about the added strain in their flists ;) (I'm keeping my friends in mind for this).

There are times when I read of personal accounts of other LJers that remind me of my own personal exploits and stories...when they share, it makes me want to share...and often times I do.

Does sharing stories make me sound self-absorbed? Or are my anecdotes shared after your anecdotes fun to read?

Like Jagwire recently posted a pick of his family and I shared one of mine...and now, he's got a story about a pet wanting to hop in the shower with him...well, I have a cat that used to HATE water with a passion that surpasses the water-fear of other cats...when I would shower she would stare at the curtain with a HORRIFIC look pondering what the hell I did to deserve such a cruel and unusual punishment...

Had I shared that story, in that entry...would it seem like I was trying to steal the glory from the original story, or is such a comment fun and witty?

I also find myself posting related pics when mi5anthr0pe posts funny things...I post them because I think they are cute, but sometimes I just don't do it, because I feel it's bad form on some level.

I guess it's a matter of EGO and while I'm not sharing to boost my own, I'm certainly not wanting to mar the ego of the person I'm sharing with... I have mixed feelings on the matter because I have flip flopping emotions when it happens to me...

How do you feel about it?

I've tweaked out my LJ and will likely tweak it out a bit more...

I updated to the AD subscriber+ (I get like half the PRO's of a paid account by letting Google pay for it). I also added the Navagation bar to my pages...which you should likely check out. You can add it to yours via your EDIT PROFILE information page.

I now get 15 userpics *dances*

*shrug*

Heh...if all this goes well, I might even get the paid account status again...but only if they stop breaking things...
